mousesports have claimed their second trophy since the start of the year after beating Virtus.pro 2-1 in the grand final of the V4 Future Sports Festival.
The title decider in Budapest began on Mirage, MOUZ' pick and a map they usually feel very comfortable on. Chris "chrisJ" de Jong's men opened things up with a successful A execute in the pistol round, and, after taking both anti-ecos, they took the first full gun round off of two entry frags from Robin "ropz" Kool in the A site.
That was when Virtus.pro finally tightened up their defence. Every round won by the Polish team was met with applause from the crowd, and the deficit quickly disappeared. But VP would not be able to take the lead as back-to-back 1v1 situations went the way of MOUZ, who would go on to take a narrow 8-7 lead into the second half.
The second half began in the same manner as the first, with MOUZ taking five rounds right off the bat. Virtus.pro then finally got a round on the board, but they would be dealt a heavy blow right after as the European mixture rallied back immediately. With their economy in shambles and a huge deficit, the Polish side were helpless to prevent mouz from running away with the lead.
Next up was Cobblestone, where Virtus.pro came out of the gate looking much livelier. They won seven rounds without response and immediately put MOUZ in danger of getting blown out. A trio of kills from Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný then yielded the first round for mouz, but the Polish team would not take their foot off the gas and closed out the half with a commanding 13-2 lead, with Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski leading the charge for his team.
Now playing on the CT side, Virtus.pro piled more misery on their opponents by taking the pistol round, and then they followed that up with two more to lock down the map, 16-2, and take the series to Train.
Starting out on the Terrorist side, MOUZ got off to a great start and won five of the opening six rounds of the game. A trio of kills from Michał "MICHU" Müller then sparked a great run from Virtus.pro, who bagged four rounds in a row to equalise the score. But just like on Mirage, the Polish side could not take the lead, with the half ending with a slight 8-7 advantage for the StarSeries Season 4 champions.
The second half began with Virtus.pro taking the pistol round with an outer bombsite push despite losing a player early on. After giving up both eco rounds, MOUZ responded with a double AWP setup thanks to three kills from chrisJ, but VP rallied back immediately on a very weak buy, forcing the Dutchman to call a tactical pause.
After getting their economy back in order, MOUZ picked up a round to bring the gap to 10-12. At this point, Virtus.pro's players had very little money to work with, but pashaBiceps stepped up to the plate and opened up the map with an AWP kill before his team successfully pushed the inner site with nothing but pistols.
With three quick kills in the next round, MICHU put Virtus.pro on 14 rounds. It looked like the Polish side had all but won the game, but MOUZ did not throw in the towel and won six rounds in a row to take the title. The Poles were certainly left with a bitter taste as they knew that they would most likely have won the map had they not wasted a 3v2 lead in the 27th round, which would have put them on match point and against a mouz side on a very weak buy.
